A public-records reference site for Nevada voters.
Pay for Play Nevada is a focused entry portal into the public-records ecosystem documenting how money buys policy in Nevada. We are the narrative-led, scheme-by-scheme starting point. The deep data sits at our sister sites.
Why this site exists
The Nevada Secretary of State publishes every campaign contribution back to 2006. The Nevada Legislature publishes every lobbyist's filings and every recorded vote. The IRS publishes every nonprofit Form 990. Federal procurement publishes every dollar that flows from US Treasury to a Nevada vendor. State checkbooks publish every vendor invoice. All of it is public. Almost none of it is read.
Pay for Play Nevada reads it for you, organizes it by scheme, names the names, and links every claim to the underlying filing.
Editorial independence
- We accept no funding from candidates, campaigns, political committees, or ballot-issue committees.
- We accept no funding from regulated industries (gaming, mining, utilities, healthcare-managed-care, tobacco, alcohol, cannabis).
- We accept no funding from any 501(c)(4) "social welfare" organization or 501(c)(6) trade association that is itself a documented pass-through in any of our coverage.
- We treat Republican and Democratic targets identically, by donor-list-and-voting-record, not by party brand.
Family of sites
This site is part of an integrated public-records-accountability network. Each site has a specific scope:
- Nevada Political Establishment — canonical data warehouse. Donors, lobbyists, firms, unions, revolving door, regulatory capture, dark money, tax credits, anomalies, the 37 detectors, network-of-networks reconciliation.
- Nevada Campaign Contributions — 101,224 candidate, PAC, company, and donor pages covering $1.37 billion across 2006–2025.
- Who Did That To Nevada — accountability for past policy harms, named individuals.
- Nevada Slavemaster — labor exploitation and indentured-servitude patterns in NV employment.
- NEDPAC — infrastructure issue advocacy.
What we publish vs. what we don't
We publish:
- Campaign contribution amounts, dates, donor identities (where public-record-disclosed).
- Roll-call votes by named legislator on named bills.
- Lobbyist registrations, employers, and disclosed compensation.
- State, county, city, and federal contract awards to named vendors.
- Tax-exempt-organization filings (Form 990, including Schedule I, Schedule O, Part VII).
- Court of record case captions and material orders.
We do not publish:
- Home addresses.
- Family members of officials (unless filed as a co-donor or co-officer in an entity we are covering).
- Personal medical, mental-health, or sealed-record information.
- Tax returns or any other non-public financial filings.
- Allegations of crime that have not resulted in a court-of-record filing.
